NORRIS: Best sheriff choice

| April 21, 2020 1:00 AM

I am writing this letter in support of Robert Norris for Kootenai County Sheriff. I had the pleasure of meeting personally with Robert to determine his suitability for the Office of Sheriff. During my lengthy interview, I asked Robert numerous questions regarding the depth of his experience, knowledge, as well as his leadership philosophy and perspective on community policing engagement.

Robert believes a professional and effective law enforcement organization must have a strong commitment by the top cop to lead by example and to demand high ethical behavior from personnel. His response is consistent with what a qualified and professional law enforcement leader should be.

I asked Robert, if elected Sheriff, to explain his transition plan for KCSO and the good men and women who work there. His plan is to talk with employees about their concerns and issues they have identified while working in KCSO. He will review current policies, procedures and operations of KCSO prior to making changes.

In my view, Robert embraces sound leadership principles because Robert believes, as do I, the most important asset in any organization is the people who make up the organization. It’s where the rubber meets the road.

Throughout our meeting, Robert displayed honesty, transparency along with genuine humility. I believe he will be a good fit for shaping the future of policing in our fast growing community.

Robert is the only candidate who has earned the endorsement and support of the Kootenai County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, which is made up entirely of KCSO personnel. Please vote for Robert Norris, Sheriff.
