Stay-home protest on Long Bridge today

| April 17, 2020 1:10 PM

SANDPOINT — Idaho residents are joining the ranks of residents in other states who are pushing back against stay-at-home orders.

Protesters are gathering on the U.S. Highway 95 Long Bridge today at 1 p.m. to oppose Gov. Brad Little’s stay-home order, which has been extended to April 30.

Organizers contend all businesses are essential and Idahoans have a fundamental right to provide for their families.

“We will gather on Friday to remind our employees of the state that we will not stay silent while they attempt to destroy the lives of Idahoans and our economy,” organizers said in a post to social media.

The protest coincides with another protest set for Friday in Boise.

Similar protests have occurred in Utah, Wyoming, Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina and Virginia.
