KASTNING: Wins comparison test

| April 17, 2020 1:00 AM

We have two Republican, family dedicated candidates running for legislature in District 2, Position B, Tim Kastning and Doug O. We use different lenses and priorities in reviewing differences between candidates — traditional values, Bible-based values, Constitutional support, transparency, etc.

Tim Kastning was founder/owner of Grace Tree Service, Hayden for 17 years. Doug O. is manager of Greyhound Park, Post Falls owned by the Greene Group, Tuscaloosa, Ala., investing in racetracks and gambling.

Both candidates have contributed to their community. Tim Kastning served in the U.S. Air Force, served on multiple boards/committees including North Idaho College, Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce, NIBCA and served on the city of Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls urban forest committees. Tim, as a small business owner, through Grace Tree Service, supported many community causes with these contributions coming from his pocket.

Doug O. has given more than a million dollars to our community through the Greene Idaho foundation, subsidiary of the Greene Group. It’s concerning that these outside contributions are primarily proceeds from gambling and CDA Racing, LLP. CDA Racing was founded to introduce and support gambling in Kootenai County.

Tim Kastning with no conflicts of interest can represent us without compromise. Doug O., according to Idaho code, needs to declare his conflict of interest regarding voting on gambling issues in Idaho.

Considering Tim’s strong traditional and family values, passion to defend us and the constitution, transparency, no outside conflicts, successful business leadership, military and local service record, my vote is for Tim Kastning.
