ADDIS: An ideal legislator

| April 12, 2020 1:00 AM

I write in enthusiastic support of Jim Addis for District 4 Seat A Representative in our Idaho Legislature. Jim has deep North Idaho roots and brings his extensive business background, common sense thinking and demonstrated ability to listen and collaborate to represent our interests best in Boise.

In just his first term, Jim hit the ground running and earned a reputation as a hard worker and leader in the house. He sponsored successful legislation, supported by our mining industry, that strengthened the role of the state of Idaho, rather than the federal government, in control of the financial assurance in mine land reclamation. He supported modernizing our mineral leasing system and has worked tirelessly to bring business supporting policies to government.

Jim understands the vital importance to business of having a trained and educated workforce. His support for the continued investment in education will help ensure our students can meet the ever-changing economy of the future, which is here today. He supports local control, vocational and technical education and STEM which are all critical keys to our student’s success and for the future of Idaho business.

We are living in unchartered territory with COVID-19. The long-term ramifications could be significant. And it is in times like these we need an experienced and steady hand on the wheel. Jim is a successful businessman and has devoted himself to community engagement and involvement. I have served with him on the Coeur d’Alene Rotary Club board of directors and have been impressed with his experience, leadership and commitment to Coeur d’Alene and all of Idaho.

Please join me in returning Jim Addis to the Idaho House of Representatives.
