A stitch in time

This pandemic experience is new and horrifying, its potential impact on human life and the economy staggering.

But as Americans, we’ve been through global crises before.

Like World War II.

While most North Idahoans are following Gov. Brad Little’s order and staying home, we thought we’d provide a daily glimpse back nearly 80 years.

This retro excursion will include an item or two from the Press on the same date in 1942 as present time.

Here’s something from April 11, 1942, in the Coeur d’Alene Press.

Back then, people pretty much made do with what they had, flexing their domestic ingenuity muscles to create clothing and accessories.

They had to. Amazon didn’t offer doorstep delivery in 1942.
