Charles L. ‘Chuck’ Sheaffer, 80

| April 8, 2020 1:00 AM

Charles L. “Chuck” Sheaffer, passed peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side on March 29, 2020.

He was born Feb. 21, 1940, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Gerald and Jeanette (Stinson) Sheaffer. He was the youngest of five children. He grew up in the Oklahoma City and Norman areas. His dad was a pastor and had a tile business; he learned the tile trade early in life. He was a third-generation tile-setter and a craftsman in his field.

As a young man, the call of the mountains, hunting and fishing got him to move to Idaho.

He moved his family to Coeur d’Alene in 1968 and found work in Spokane, Wash., at Yancy Tile. He then opened his own business, Sheaffer Tile and Floor Covering. He ran a successful business for 33 years until his health failed him, and he was medically retired in 2001.

He divorced and later married Phyllis Anderson Sheaffer; at the time of his death they were married 40 years.

Chuck loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was always willing to share the love of Jesus. He had a special gift and a twinkle in his eye when he shared the love of Jesus.

He loved his family, old cars, hunting and fishing, huckleberry picking, travel, surfing the net and BBQing. He had a hardy laugh and loved a good joke, which will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Eugene Sheaffer and Rev. Daniel T. Sheaffer; sisters Mary E. Felton and Carolyn Brooks.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; three daughters: Deborah, Barbara and Sharlene; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Because of the coronavirus, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

You are simply my best time.

You are my sweetest laughter.

You are my most peaceful sleep.

And still you find new ways to love me.

Always you will have my hand to hold. Always.

Remembrances can be donated to a charity of one’s choice in Chuck’s name.
