The city of Rathdrum will hold a public hearing using Zoom video communications on April 15.

Initially, the city planned to postpone the meeting, but after discussions with the governor’s office, city administrator Leon Duce decided the city could continue in its basic functions while ensuring public safety.

“We will try to keep things going as normal as possible so we aren’t causing more economic hardship to people,” Duce said.

The public hearing will determine whether the city will annex and rezone 9.75 acres west of North Meyer Road, south of West Christine Street, and north of West Flagstaff Street into city limits as residential.

The second portion of the public hearing will hear testimony on a proposed major subdivision consisting of 57 residential lots on 18.9 acres, including the portion being considered for annexation into the city.

Duce encourages Rathdrum residents to send comments for the hearing via email or mail. Comments need to be received by April 14 at cary@rathdrum.org or by mail Attn: Cary Siess, City of Rathdrum, 8047 W. Main St., Rathdrum, 83858.

A trial zoom hearing will be held on April 9th at 6 p.m. in order to help people feel more comfortable with the process.

Participants may register in advance at https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_kqJKlijRQjeifYCjf7IbMw.

After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

More information can be found on the city’s website www.rathdrum.org or by contacting city planner Cary Siess at (208)687-2700 ext 117.
