COURAGE: Folks of faith

| April 5, 2020 1:00 AM

Common sense and courage are important. Despite the promising results of several doctors in treating COVID-19 patients with hydroxychloquine and azithromycin, the governors of Nevada, Michigan and other states are blocking the drugs’ use.

Sadly, many leaders lack courage, and also, do not care about serving the people?

Should Father Damien have risked his life to help those with leprosy (1873-1889)? Or Aloysius Gonzaga washed and fed plague victims (1591)?

Should Florence Nightingale risked her life to treat soldiers in the Crimean War (1853-1856) with hospitals abounding in diseases?

Should Pastor Tim Remington have had church Sunday (March 29) with 30 (?) people, who were “social distanced,” except for married couples? Hey, you could get the virus from a gas pump or your mailbox or getting “essentials” at the grocery store. Life has some risk. And do not forget losing First Amendment rights.

JESUS called mankind sheep. Occasionally we have a few folks with courage-maybe you are one of them! Thank you!

The world is full of those sheep who do not want to rock the boat. And there are some, like wolves, who love to manipulate those who want to be on the sidelines as critics, but not “in the arena.” (Teddy Roosevelt, 1910).

Maybe some of us, if we step out in faith and courage more will have a college named after us someday!

“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”
