Patrick ‘Pat’ Murphy, 71

| April 1, 2020 1:00 AM

Patrick “Pat” Murphy, age 71, from Coeur d’Alene, passed away at Schweitzer Mountain Resort on March 16, 2020. Pat was born in Santa Rita, N.M., and he graduated from Cobre High School, Bayard, N.M., in June, 1965.

He was employed by Louisiana Pacific for many years, and then owned and operated his remodel and construction company, North Idaho Repairs. Pat was a highly skilled and well respected ski instructor at Schweitzer Mountain.

Pat was admired and loved by his many friends and his Airedale puppy, “Chloe.” He prided himself on his physical condition, his routines and his healthy lifestyle. He was very creative and an artist, as evidenced by the many remodels he worked on in Coeur d’Alene and surrounding areas.

He had a passion for snow skiing, biking, golfing and living life to the fullest. To many, including Linda, Pat was “Superman.” Superman is defined as “a superior man that has learned to forgo fleeting pleasures and attain happiness through the exercise of creative super power and extraordinary achievements.” He was a brave and kindhearted person with a strong sense of justice, morality and righteousness. He had an unwavering love for people, his work, his wife and everything he did.

Pat is survived by his wife, Linda (Timboe) Murphy of 38 years; his daughters Rebecca and Kelly; his sisters Karen Scott of Albuquerque and Maureen Sanders; and special friend, Karen Warrick of Dana Point, Calif.; mother-in law, Irene Lowe; brother in-laws Jerry (Christine) Timboe of Gig Harbor, Wash. and Jim Timboe of Coeur d’Alene; sister-in-law, Kristy (Bill) Nesbitt and several nieces and nephews who all adored Uncle Pat.

He is predeceased by his father, Dennis Murphy; his mother, Thelma Hazel Murphy; a sister, Sue Ann Messmer; father-in-law, Clyde Timboe and sister-in-law, Carolyn Timboe.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Schweitzer Alpine Racing School (SARS) or Kootenai Humane Society.

Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
