Jarred Rome, director of the Iron Wood Thrower Development Camp in Coeur d’Alene and assistant meet director of the Ironwood Throws Classic in Rathdrum, was found dead Saturday, the Everett Herald reported.

He was 42.

Rome’s older sister, Monica Rome, said he was found dead Saturday morning by friends, the Herald reported. Rome, a Marysville Pilchuck High graduate, was in western Washington to celebrate his induction into the Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame, which took place Wednesday night in Everett. Monica Rome said her brother went out with friends to the Tulalip Resort Casino and wasn’t feeling well Friday. People checked in on him throughout the night, and was found unresponsive Saturday, the Herald reported.

Rome was a track and field assistant coach for throws at Boston University.

Rome, a two-time Olympian, was a former training partner of Ian Waltz, former Post Falls High and Washington State standout and also a former Olympian.
