Follini leads Timberlake past Rogers for 3-0 start

SPOKANE — Joey Follini ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more as the Timberlake Tigers blanked the Rogers Pirates 47-0 in nonleague high school football Saturday night at Joe Albi Stadium.
Follini completed 19 of 28 passes for 172 yards, and rushed for 78 yards on seven carries. Jeremy McLemore ran for 79 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
Josh Yanez caught seven passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns for Timberlake (3-0), which plays host to St. Maries on Friday.
Rogers is 0-3.

Post Falls girls
win at 509 meet
CHENEY — Post Falls senior Sydney Shanahan was the top local finisher at the third annual Nike Battle for the 509, finishing second in 18:14.36 and leading the Trojans to the girls team title.
Other locals in the top 10 were: Coeur d’Alene’s Lauren Forster (fifth in 18:24.64), Post Falls’ Samantha Wood (sixth in 18:27.44) and Bailey Shanahan eighth in 19:40.67.
Post Falls edged Central Valley 53-67 for the girls team title.
Sandpoint’s Nikolai Braedt was ninth in the boys race, finishing in 15:52.54.

Firman elite race
EAGLE — Timberlake senior Logan Hunt was the top local finisher in the boys elite race at the Bob Firman Invitational at Eagle Island State Park, finishing 63rd out of 228 competitors in 16 minutes, 25.10 seconds.
Timberlake, which competed in the Division II race, finished 13th as a team in the girls race and 16th in the boys race. Sugar-Salem swept team titles in the Division II race.
Timberlake will compete in the Connell Invitatonal next Saturday.
