OLD HOUSE: Option to demolition
I have been following the debate about demolishing the beautiful old residence (former attorney offices) in order to build much needed government offices. I suggest that the County Commissioners explore the possibility of purchasing the now vacant Shopko building, or any other under-utilized mall in the area, and moving the Transportation/Vehicle Licensing Department and other departments to that location which would provide adequate office and customer parking space, which the current location is totally lacking, and would free up the current space to accommodate new offices which generate less traffic in the downtown area.
Other uses for the old residence could then be considered with less pressure to demolish it. Unused malls might also be an option for schools.
I hope taxpayers agree and will encourage our local government to pursue this option.
