Attention, voters: Full slate for Nov. 5

The Nov. 5 election for cities and fire and school districts will feature several races, while some open seats drew one candidate or none.

Friday was the deadline for candidates to have their names on the ballot.

Coeur d'Alene, Athol, Dalton Gardens, Harrison, Hayden, Rathdrum and Spirit Lake will have contested races for city leadership positions.

The deadline to file as a city write-in candidate is Oct. 8.

"By law, even if there is only one candidate, the municipality is required to hold an election for each open seat," Kootenai County Clerk Jim Brannon said.

The filing deadline for write-in candidates for fire and school district seats is Sept. 20. After the write-in deadline has passed, the races for the fire and school district seats will not appear on the ballot unless they are contested.

Here's a look at the races and candidates:

CITIES

• Coeur d'Alene — Christie Wood and Elaine Price are seeking Seat 1; Dan Gookin and Michael Pereira Seat 3; and Dan English, Tom Morgan, Roger Huntman and Lacey Moen Seat 5. Gookin and English are incumbents. Ron Edinger, the current Seat 1 holder, is not seeking re-election.

- Post Falls — Kerri Thoreson (Seat 1), Joe Malloy (Seat 3) and Lynn Borders (Seat 5), all incumbents, did not draw challengers.

- Hayden — Mayor Steve Griffitts and Roger Saterfiel, the Seat 3 holder on city council, did not draw challengers. However, Matt Roetter, the current Seat 1 holder in the council, will be challenged by Jillian Bernstein.

- Rathdrum — Mayor Vic Holmes is seeking re-election and hasn't drawn a challenger. Fred Meckel, the Seat 2 holder on the council, will be challenged by Mike Hill. Deborah Holmes, the Seat 4 holder, will be challenged by Steven Adams.

- Dalton Gardens — Dan Edwards was the only candidate to file for mayor. Five candidates — Scott Jordan, Aaron O'Brien, Drew Dittman, Robert Wuest and Jamie Smith — are seeking two four-year seats. Four candidates — Carrie Chase, Tyler Drechsel, Ray Craft and Kenneth Egbert — are seeking two two-year seats.

- Spirit Lake — Becki Gaddum, Michelle Tiffany and Angel Vanderwilt are seeking two two-year seats on the city council. There is a five-way race for two four-year council seats between Jeremy CowPerthwaite, Gary Ventress, Kenny Montijo, Mindy Blood and Vicki Buchert.

- Athol — Bill Hill and Ryan Swensen will run for mayor. Mary Zichko and Pam Baldwin are seeking Seat 1 on the city council, Josh Spencer Seat 2 and Cindi Denis and Mark Dane Seat 3.

- Hayden Lake — Jim Ackerman (mayor), Ed Graves (council Seat 1) and Katie Brodie (Seat 4) were the lone candidates to file for those seats, while no one filed for Seat 3.

- Harrison — Wanda Irish is the lone candidate for mayor. Five candidates — Joe Cornell, Jordan Hall, Valerie Harris, Nick John and Linda Lacitinola — are seeking three council seats.

- Hauser — Bill Ray was the lone candidate to file for mayor. Jeff Hoerner was the only candidate to file for two four-year seats, while Sean Taylor was the lone candidate to file for two two-year seats.

- State Line — No one has filed for two seats on the city council.

- Worley — Charlene Waddell is the lone candidate so far for mayor, while Karen Babbitt and Robert Wienclaw are the lone candidates for two council seats.

- Huetter — Bradley Keene is the lone candidate for mayor, while Luke Gibler was the only person to file for two council seats.

- Fernan — Raymond Watkins filed for Seat 3 on the city council. No one had filed for mayor or Seat 2 of the council.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS

- Coeur d'Alene — Casey Morrisroe (Zone 2) and Tambra Pickford (Zone 3) did not draw a challenger.

- Post Falls — Michelle Lippert (Zone 2) and Bonnie Beaulieu (Zone 3) did not draw a challenger.

- Lakeland — Rena Olmstead will oppose Randi Bain for Zone 1. Ramona Grissom and John Michael Schaffer will seek the Zone 2 seat. Tim Skubitz and Michelle Thompson will vie for Zone 3.

- Kootenai — No one had filed for the Zone 2 and Zone 3 seats.

- Plummer-Worley — Tammy Gathier is seeking the Zone 2 seat, while Jan Mitchell is seeking the Zone 4 seat.

FIRE DISTRICTS

• East Side — Loren Nelson filed for the Sub-District 2 seat.

- Hauser Lake — Wes Michael was the lone candidate to file for the Sub-District 1 seat. Chet Wachsmuth, Reinhold Jung and Andrea Maddalone filed for the Sub-District 2 seat.

- Kootenai County Fire and Rescue — Incumbents Pam Houser (Sub-District 1) and Joe Dollefeld (Sub-District 2) were the lone candidates to file.

- Northern Lakes — David Halpin (Sub-District 2) and Jim Washko (Sub-District 4) were the lone candidates to file.

- Timberlake — Jeffrey Wilkins was the lone candidate to file for Sub-District 1, while Jeff Priest was the lone candidate to file for Sub-District 3.

- Spirit Lake — David Esterly (Sub-District 1) and Mike Sexsmith (Sub-District 3) were the only candidates to file.

- Mica Kidd Island — Daniel Hanson (Sub-District 1) and Gretchen Hauser (Sub-District 2) were the lone candidates to file.

- Worley — Ronald Hise was the lone candidate to file for Sub-District 1.

- St. Maries — Jim Bennett was the lone candidate to file for Sub-District 3.
