Leonard Joseph Carrier, 89

Leonard Joseph Carrier, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, Aug. 21, 2019, surrounded by many of his loving children. Leonard was born on May 1, 1930, to Isadore and Florina Carrier, in Bismark, N.D. He was the oldest of six children. Siblings were Annabelle (Frenchy), Lorraine, Dwayne (Bud), Richard and Dale.

He was married to Nancy, who preceded him in death. He is survived by seven children: JoAnn, Jeanie, Jerry, Jon, Tonya, Amber and Mario, along with 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Leonard was a longtime resident of Dalton Gardens — known and loved by many of his neighbors. Many of those neighbors stopped by to pay their respects and share stories of him with his children. He was an avid outdoorsman and a respected member of the retriever field trial community.

He started life as a North Dakota rancher, moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1961 and worked at the Potlatch Mill, until his retirement. Those who enjoy golf should think of our father when golfing The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course — the site of the old Potlatch mill.

The family would like to thank all those who helped and were friends to our father throughout his 89 years of life.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
