Darlene Elaine Richardson, 77

Darlene Elaine Richardson, age 77, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, died peacefully at home with loved ones by her side on Aug. 13, 2019. Darlene was born Dec. 1, 1941, to Frank and Beulah (Foreman) Cosentino in Seattle. She grew up in Tacoma, Wash., and at the age of 14 she became the live-in housekeeper for a loving Jewish family in Seattle, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School.

She was 17 years old when she met Bob Richardson, who was 21, on a blind date. They married on Nov. 20, 1959. Their union was blessed with three sons. As well as being a housewife and mother for her three sons, she was a foster mom to three children, including a few family members, in their times of need.

Darlene was an independent caretaker for the elderly and also had a part-time house cleaning business for several years. For several decades she had the heart to do correspondence with inmates in prison and touch their lives also.

Darlene had a very fun and happy spirit about her and was a joy to be around. She touched the lives of many people. Darlene was a den leader for her sons’ Boy Scouts along with 4-H clubs. Darlene was extremely supportive and involved with many sport activities for her children and her husband. She loved animals. She especially loved horses. She owned, trained and boarded horses most all of her life and loved riding them. She also enjoyed her crafts and coloring.

When thinking of Darlene, people will remember her bright red lipstick and fun personality along with her long necklaces and beads around her neck. Everybody will miss her and will remember her loving heart and spirit. She is now with her loving husband, Bob, in Paradise.

Darlene is survived by her sons, Ron of Lynnwood, Wash., Shawn and Bert, both of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and a younger brother, Terry, of Tacoma, Wash.; as well as several nieces and nephews, in-laws and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, younger sister, Pam, and younger brother, Randy.

A memorial service for Darlene will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3115 N. 15th St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Arrangements are provided by Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene.
