Hans Neubauer, 63

Hans Neubauer, 63, of Bayview, Idaho, passed away Aug. 26, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones.

Hans was born in Bissing, Germany, on July 12, 1957. He moved to America with his mother, father and sister in 1968. Not knowing any English when he moved to the states, Hans taught himself English by reading comic books.

After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Minot Air Force Base, N.D. After discharge, he moved to Portland and he attended college in Klamath Falls, Ore. He then moved on and worked for Boeing as an engineer from 1987-1993, before he relocated to Bayview, where he lived with his wife Orzetta “Lynn” Neubauer. He worked on local marinas and owned Jd’s Bar in Bayview from 1993 until his passing.

Hans is survived by his wife; three daughters and two sons, Cory (Brianna), Michael (Merika), Nikki (Dillon), Vonie (Cayle) and Stormey (Tom); his sister Evelin (Barry) of Casselton N.D.; his two nephews, Connor and Jason (Leslie); great-nieces, Dakota Rose and Kolby; and two daughters from his first marriage, April (Paul) Gran and Geneva.

Hans was referred to as “Opa” and would not answer to anything else when his grandchildren would come to play. He absolutely adored all 12 of them. He was so proud to be called “Opa” and his love for them will always and forever be returned by all of them: Dakottah, Patience, Henry, Taryn, Beau, Camron, Octayva, Elizabeth, Elijah, Rhett, Daphne and Wylder. Needless to say, our holidays and family campouts were large family events. Hans always said “this is what everything is about, family.”

Hans is preceded in death by his mother Berta; his father Herbert; his aunts, Lotte and Hilde and his uncles, Gordon and Leonard. His love for them was forever strong and what he learned from them turned him into a teacher to all.

Hans enjoyed being outdoors — from hunting to riding his Harley. Hans and Lynn went on many getaways. They spent many hours at their property on the Yaak River. They built a world together and for these last years together, everything made sense. Lynn was his best friend and she could always count on him. Hans was the rock while their daughters grew up. Nothing meant more to him than his family. He was so happy to have sons-in-law and even more proud when he became Opa.

The love for Opa is forever endless. There wasn’t a baby that could be here fast enough for him to hold. He will be missed, forever loved and his spirit will live on through generations.
