Monica L. Felton, 62

Monica “Grammy” L. Felton earned her angel wings and went home on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019. Our beautiful mother lived a very full and accomplished life in her more than 62 years on this earth.

Born in Moscow, Idaho, on July 16, 1957, she was the oldest child of Wayne Darby and Joyce Findley. Monica attended Moscow High School, where she met and married Richard Felton in 1974. Together they welcomed their first daughter, Kristi, followed by Kimberly, Derek and then, Keri. They spent their early years as a family in Bakersfield, Calif., and in 1991 they fulfilled their dreams of moving back home to North Idaho.

Monica was a successful business owner and had many loyal customers that valued her unique way of taking care of them. She enjoyed talking to her children every day and she was the backbone of the family. At her time of death, Monica had seven grandchildren. She taught them how to cook, played computer games with them and enjoyed the simple things in life. Monica always enjoyed a good murder mystery, and of course, decorating for the holidays. Her favorite time of year was Christmas and she loved to watch Christmas movies.

Monica leaves behind her mother, Joyce Tinnel of Lewiston, Idaho; her daughter, Kristi Dodson and husband, Blaine of Greenacres, Wash.; daughter Kimberly Quiring of Hayden Lake, Idaho; son, Derek Felton and wife, Betina of Decatur, Texas; daughter, Keri Felton of Denver, Colo.; siblings Mark Darby and wife, Linda of Troy, Idaho, Kevin Hawley and wife, Jenny of Lewiston, and Marcia Holthaus and husband, Gary of Clarkston, Idaho; and her beloved grandchildren, Makena, Bryden, Hayden, Avery, Kruze, Kannon and Collyns.

Monica will always be remembered for her kindness. She will be missed dearly by so many. Anybody who knew her, will be forever changed. The family asks that in her honor, you would consider donating money to one of many organizations benefiting less fortunate children — something that was near and dear to Monica’s heart.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Monica’s online memorial at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com and sign her guest book.
