| October 18, 2019 1:00 AM

ST. MARIES — Mackenzie Hammond had 26 assists and Allie Brebner had 23 digs as the St. Maries Lumberjacks wrapped up the Central Idaho League title with a 22-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-19 victory over the Orofino Maniacs on Thursday night.

Taci Watkins had seven kills and three blocks for St. Maries (8-14, 3-0 CIL), which won its first outright league title since 2015. Jayden Martin had six kills and 20 digs, Sami Badgett six kills, Kirsten Miller three blocks, Hammond and Brebner two aces.

Trinity Teel totaled 10 kills, 14 digs and five aces for Orofino (6-9, 1-3).

St. Maries wraps up the league and regular season Saturday at Grangeville (1-2 CIL).

St. Maries and Orofino shared the league title each of the past three seasons. The Lumberjacks have now won or shared the last six CIL titles.

The 2A District 1-2 tournament at Genesee begins Tuesday. Orofino and Grangeville meet in a loser-out match at 5 p.m. The winner advances to a best-of-3 series with St. Maries, with Match 1 on Tuesday at 7. Match 2 and 3, if necessary, are Wednesday.

PLUMMER — Nicole Middleton had nine digs and Kria Peters 18 assists for the Knights in a 25-15, 25-23, 25-22 loss to the Miners in North Star League play at Ron Miller Court.

Tenley Lambert had five kills and two aces and Glory Olson two blocks for Lakeside (6-12, 3-4 NSL), which faces Wallace again on Saturday in Wallace.

“Wallace just keeps the ball going at you,” Lakeside coach Brad Veile said. “Our biggest issue was we gave away 14 points on serves (46 of 60). We just didn’t do well in that area. Overall, the girls played well, didn’t get down and almost went on a run and fought back.”

Lakeside can clinch the second seed to the 1A Division II District 1 tournament with a win on Saturday. If Wallace (8-6, 5-2) wins, a coin flip between Lakeside and Mullan will determine the second and fourth seed for the tournament.
