TOURISM: Bayview isn't for sale

| October 9, 2019 1:00 AM

In response to “Bayview introduces small-town charm to big-league tourists…”

We who are fortunate enough to have lived a better part of our lives in Bayview know the better part is when we have lived here. We have seen carpet baggers come and go. We like it when they go. It seems a real estate agent has decided our fate is in his hands. He thinks we need an endless stream of tourists to make Bayview live up to its potential.

Dear well-meaning Chamber volunteers, a wolf in sheep’s clothing has come among you. Do you really want what he is selling? Fear the consequences of being sold out to the tourist industry. You don’t know what you got till it’s gone. We must resist. It is easy: Quit helping this guy sell out Bayview.

Dear tourists, there is no place to swim, no good restaurants, a one mile no wake zone, the lake is always cold anyway, no place to park, the state logged Farragut Park, the locals are always arguing and can’t wait till you leave. You volunteers need to realize they ruined Coeur d’Alene and Hayden. Don’t help it happen to us.

Notice how the property values and rents are skyrocketing? Just wait until they get their new water tank and 12-inch line through town. Kiss your working class paradise goodbye. It is easy: Quit helping these guys sell us out to the highest bidder and don’t pay for the developer’s infrastructure. No Gentrification for Bayview.
