HAYDEN: Public safety kudos

Dear Mayor and City Council,

Thank you for having the foresight to evaluate Hayden’s public safety needs and to create a process and a plan to address projected, future demands.

You have demonstrated that you are meticulously fiscally responsible. I trust that you all have our wallets in mind when you see an issue that needs to be addressed and request additional funds. I am on a fixed income, but I believe it is economically sound to invest now in the continual maintenance and enhancement of our law enforcement services rather than to wait and try to catch up to public safety needs when projected growth is already upon us.

A supermajority of council members and all of your Task Force members support moving forward and placing the levy on this November’s ballot requesting that taxpayers approve the cost of four (4) additional deputies. These majorities also support the carefully revised, one-page flyer that accurately and briefly outlines the facts of the proposal.

I appreciate your diligent and honorable service, as well as the many hours you give to our community. It has been a unique experience to participate in this process.
