DEPUTIES: Pay headed right way

| October 9, 2019 1:00 AM

Based on the recent news coverage over the Kootenai County detention deputies pay, the Kootenai County Deputy Sheriff’s Association would like to express our gratitude toward the Kootenai County Board of County Commissioners, as well as the Kootenai County Human Resources employees for all of their hard work during the FY2020 budget process and pay study.

The KCDSA enjoys an excellent working relationship with the BOCC and HR, and have worked tirelessly to hold them to the wage study that was agreed upon by the elected officials earlier in the process and to help bring the wages of all county employees closer to their market.

We all know that the entire process was not perfect, but it was a huge step in the right direction for the entire county, and we as the KCDSA have already begun working with the BOCC and HR on the FY2021 budget. This is an ongoing process, not a one-time fix.
