Blackwell Island launch will close for season

BLM’s Blackwell Island boat launch and recreation site will close at the end of the day on Oct. 14. Lower lake levels because of the annual drawdown of Lake Coeur d’Alene inhibit the ability to launch watercraft from the site. Boaters are encouraged to use BLM’s Mineral Ridge boat launch located on the east side of Lake Coeur d’Alene. Mineral Ridge, which costs $6 a day, is open year-round and the annual $40 season pass covers both Blackwell Island and Mineral Ridge.
