| October 2, 2019 1:00 AM

LEWISTON — Janae Rayborn had 14 kills and four aces, Hannah Rowan 11 kills and two blocks for the Lake City Timberwolves in a 25-21, 25-27, 25-17, 25-21 win over the Lewiston Bengals in 5A Inland Empire League play at Booth Hall on Tuesday.

“The big thing for us was being able to finish out the match,” Lake City coach Mike Summers said. “The girls were still a little tired from the games last week (at the Rocky Mountain Classic in Meridian), but I liked how they worked as a family and persevered through some tough times.”

Tanai Jenkins had four blocks, Nellie Reese 29 assists, Kiki Cates 11 digs and Jaya Miller nine digs for Lake City (11-4, 4-0 5A IEL), which competes in the Madison tournament on Friday and Saturday in Rexburg. The Timberwolves will face Madison, Thunder Ridge and Skyview on Friday, then face Bonneville, Timberline and Century on Saturday in pool play, before bracket play begins.

“Overall, we served the ball pretty well,” Summers said. “In some sets, we played well with our block, and others we weren’t. But a win is a win, and we’ll move forward.”

Lewiston — which took Lake City to five sets on Sept. 3 — is 0-4 in league.
