KINDNESS: Look, it's here
I was in Winco picking up a few items after church. When I went to pay for them, I couldn’t find my debit card in my purse. The very nice cashier said she would save the items and to take my time going through my purse.
I went back to her with another Visa but it wasn’t a debit Visa. While I was fumbling around, a young man gave the cashier a card and I thought that he, himself, had returned to pay for his groceries. The cashier handed me a receipt and said “you’re good.”
In my flustered state I didn’t quite know what she meant. She then told me that this young man paid for my groceries. I was overcome to say the least and said to him, “Oh, that was so very kind of you but I insist on paying you back!” He shook his head “no,” and I went on trying to convince him but to no avail. “Bless you,” I said. “You’re an exceptional person.” He then walked out of the store.
With tears in my eyes, I wheeled my basket to the car. I will probably never know the name of this young man but I will always remember his face and his very kind gesture. Yes, there are very good people in the world and I just met one of them.
