Christmas tree permits available for public lands in the Idaho Panhandle

Christmas tree permits are available for $5 at most U.S. Forest Service offices in the Panhandle.

Families may purchase up to five Christmas tree tags to cut trees on national forest lands in North Idaho and Montana, and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands administered by the Coeur d’Alene district office in North Idaho.

Tags to cut trees in the Coeur d’Alene River Ranger District and St. Joe Ranger District can also be purchased via snail mail. Print and complete a form, include a check or money order, and mail it to the district offices. Tree tags will be mailed the day after applications are received.
