POWELL, Wyo. — Isaac Lopez (125 pounds), Jacob Swift (157) and Navarro Nanpuya (165) won championships in their respective weights for North Idaho College in the Trapper Open on the campus of Northwest College on Saturday.

“Overall, the guys wrestled really well,” NIC coach Mike Sebaaly said. “Isaac had a major decision, technical fall and pin and Jacob did a great job as well.”

Samuel Peterson advanced to the championship match, finishing runner-up at 285.

Alex Lopez (141), Salvador Silva (149) and Alan Bradley (174) finished third for NIC.

“We’re on the right track,” Sebaaly said. “It was a smaller tournament, but we got a chance to see the No. 1 team in the nation (Northwest College). We had a good tournament and we’re excited to keep things moving in the right direction. We’ll keep training, trusting the process and getting ready for nationals in March.”

No team scores were kept.

NIC competes in the Mike Clock Open on Nov. 17 at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore.
