HAYDEN: Roetter, yes; deputies, no

| November 1, 2019 1:00 AM

Recently in The Press I’ve read letters endorsing a person for Hayden City Council who has never even bothered to vote here. This endorsement was made against incumbent Matt Roetter, whose staunch, informed commitment to the voters of Hayden is impeccable.

When he was first elected, I met Matt and told him I’d be keeping my eye on him. It turned out that he was the only one I didn’t need to watch. He takes the time to research each and every issue, then does his best to ensure the best outcome for the people of Hayden. He’s a fiscal hawk when it comes to taxpayer dollars, seeking to keep taxes low while providing the best possible services by the city. He supports adding two law enforcement deputies rather than four, a measure I support as well. Please vote NO on that measure; crime statistics support the addition of two deputies at most, but that won’t be an option on November’s ballot.

In my opinion, the mayor and at least two city councilmen are trying to oust Matt Roetter from the council to get someone new who won’t “rock the boat” as it were. Matt Roetter is intelligent, honorable and dedicated to the success of the city of Hayden, and has my full support. By the way, Matt made a motion for a resolution against the IDOC criminal facility being built in Hayden, but not one member would second it! A vote for Matt Roetter is a vote FOR Hayden!
