North Idaho College student Kaylee Nelson, from St. Maries, placed in three categories in business-related events at the national Business Professionals of America (BPA) competition held in Anaheim, Calif., earlier this month.

Nelson placed as follows:

- Third Place — Basic Office Systems and Procedures

- Third Place — Integrated Office Applications

- Second Place — Fundamental Word Processing

Nelson, who is in NIC’s Administrative Office Management Technology program, competed with university and college students from across the United States.

The business competition was organized through BPA, a national organization for high school and college students preparing for careers in business and career technical fields. With 45,000 members in more than 1,800 chapters across 25 states and Puerto Rico, BPA is an organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards.
