VETERANS: Year-round gratitude

To Mr. Mark Dymkoski, in reply to your opinion about businesses giving free services on Memorial Day capitalizing on a business promotion. I understand your cynicism, but give civilians a break. When I go into a business and they offer military discount, I thank them from my heart.
You stated that Memorial Day is to honor those who gave their lives in service to their country. Well of course it is. I disagree that to include veterans and active duty members diminishes the purpose of Memorial Day.
As my better half told me, perhaps the owner of the business you criticized is also a veteran. Also, what she might not want me to repeat, “What are you going to do, offer free car washes to dead people?”
