David Lillemo, 88

On Monday, May 20, 2019, David Lillemo, loving father, grandpa and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 88.

David was born on March 28, 1931, in Walker, Minn. He received his medical technology degree from the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, Minn., in 1951. David enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951. He was honorably discharged as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class on June 1, 1955.

In 1966, David and his family moved from Cook, Minn. (located on the Minnesota Iron Range), to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to assist Dr. Toyama with his optical business. In 1967, David opened up the first independent optical shop in Coeur d’Alene, Little Mo’s Optical, and successfully operated it for 50 years.

David, aka “Papa,” had a passion for golfing, fly fishing and riding his tractor. He was known for his big heart, his sense of humor and his great conversations.

David was preceded in death by his two daughters, Joy and Kari. He is survived by his lifelong friend, Patty; son, Scott (Melody); son, Pete (Melissa); close friends, Lee and Steve; niece, Anna (Chris); niece, Krystal; nephew, Rylan (Tirinni); and his six great-grandchildren, Owen, Preston, Jagger, Gavin, Sylas and Jamison.

There will be no service held at this time. Family and friends will be notified at a later date regarding a celebration of life for David. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
