Clifford Eugene Chandler passed away on May 22, 2019, at the Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene with his loving wife by his side.

He was born Sept. 5, 1918, in Imogene, S.D. He moved with his family, including three brothers and five sisters, to North Idaho in 1936. He proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Navy. He was a Seabee.

After retail sales management training and lumber grading instruction, Clifford worked in management of retail lumber and building material yards. He enjoyed all aspects of the work of retail lumber yards, including purchasing, sales, advertising, hiring, shipping and receiving, along with breaking down blueprints and inventory control. He also worked as a carpenter and remodeling contractor.

He married Grace Walker on Oct. 17, 1953. They raised a daughter, Katherine.

In retirement, they enjoyed traveling and wintering in Arizona, dancing, playing cards with their many friends. Clifford liked to sing and would sing songs and recite poetry from his childhood.

Clifford was a pleasant gentleman, never meeting anyone he didn’t like, and in turn, was liked by all who ever met him. He and his wife of 65 years lived in Hayden.
