VETERANS: Don't capitalize, businesses

As a veteran, I am dismayed by the news that Metro Express Car Wash will provide free car washes to veterans and active duty members on Memorial Day. Jordan Kuhn is quoted as saying, “the day is about honoring those who served …”

Jordan needs a civics lesson. Veterans Day is the day that those who served are recognized. Memorial Day is to honor those who gave their lives in service to their country. To include veterans and active duty members diminishes the purpose of Memorial Day and looks more like a business promotion to me.
