Reimer ‘Ray’ Von Sprecken, 94
Aug. 14, 1924 — April 30, 2019
Ray made his way home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 30, 2019. His wife, Charlotte, and daughters, Kim and Valerie, were by his side.
Ray was a U.S. Navy Veteran who proudly served during World War II. His faith and family were the centers of his life and he devoted himself to both. Ray loved to travel, square dance, entertain friends and family and he was always up for a good card game. Ray especially enjoyed long walks and gardening, a reflection of his love and appreciation for the beauty of the world God granted us.
Ray was born in Iowa to Gus and Lillian, and was the oldest of three sons. He met the love of his life, Charlotte, and they were blessed with 62 wonderful years of marriage. Ray leaves behind his wife, Charlotte; daughters, Kim (Paul) Allen of San Diego, Calif., Valerie (Quintin) Taylor of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; his seven beloved grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Helen) Gardena of California, and Orvin (Jean) of Hayden Lake, Idaho; and numerous family members and friends that will miss him so very much.
A celebration of life honoring Ray will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene.
A Military Honors Funeral Ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. on May 31, 2019, at his final resting place at the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, Calif.
