POEM: For special mothers

This is to all the mothers

Who have a child that is not their own,

Happy Mother’s Day to you,

For taking responsibility for someone else’s daughter or son,

Know your actions are appreciated,

Your words of encouragement are noticed.

Thank you to the women who take the role

Of being a mother to those troubled,

This is to the women

Who play the role of motherhood,

To the women who not only listened

But made sure they sincerely understood,

Happy Mother’s Day to you,

For caring for those not their own,

Know you are appreciated, you are loved

By those proud to be known as though your own daughter or son.
