Eight Charter players advance to district title matches in tennis

COEUR d’ALENE — Two individuals and three doubles teams from Coeur d’Alene Charter advanced to the championship round at the 3A District 1-2 tennis tournament Friday at Cherry Hill Courts and Coeur d’Alene High School.

They include:

Boys singles, Ian Fleming vs. Trayse Mangun (Clearwater Valley)

Girls singles, Hannah Burt vs. Chloe Dame (Grangeville)

Mixed doubles, Lauren Faulkner/Nemo Vest Wu vs. Makayla Herrick/Jerrot Nuxoll (Clearwater Valley)

Girls doubles, Megan MacKinney/Olivia Chang vs. H. Forsmann/J.Torsten (Grangeville)

Boys doubles, Brandon King/Gabe Kalamani vs. D. Parker/T. Stang (Grangeville)

Other Charter players still alive in the consolation bracket are Lucas Cheeley and Henry Tran (boys doubles), Logan Koenig (boys singles) and Dylan McCaughan/Simone Johnson (mixed doubles).

All championship matches are scheduled for today at Coeur d’Alene High, starting at 9 a.m.

In the team scoring, Grangeville leads with 43, followed by Coeur d’Alene Charter with 37, Clearwater Valley with 21, Culdesac with 14, Clark Fork with 12 and Orofino with 8.

BONNERS FERRY — The third-seeded Spartans (6-13) advanced to state with the victory over the No. 2 Badgers (9-10) in the loser-out, second-place game of the 3A District 1 tournament.

Priest River opens state vs. Sugar-Salem on Thursday at 6 p.m. PDT at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls. District 1 champion Timberlake (16-8-1) opens state vs. Marsh Valley on Thursday at 9 a.m.

PRIEST RIVER — The second-seeded Spartans (12-9) moved on to state with the victory over the No. 3 Wildcats (6-11) in the loser-out, second-place game of the 3A District 1 tournament.

Priest River opens state vs. South Fremont on Friday at 11 a.m. at Ramsey Park in Coeur d’Alene. District 1 champion Timberlake (17-1) opens vs. Snake River, also Friday at 11 at Ramsey.
