Geraldine Smith, 93

Our mom, Geraldine Smith, at age 93, went home with the angels in the early morning hours of May 5, 2019.

Gerry, as she was known to most, was born on Feb. 3, 1926, in California, and spent most of her life in Northern Idaho, with her early years spent in Hope. Then she married Walter Hoffman, having two children: Gary Hoffman of Cody, Wyo., and Dianna Worth of Spokane, Wash. She lost Walter 1948. She then married Tom Foutz in 1950 and had four more children: George Foutz of Houser Lake, Idaho, Mark Foutz of Liberty Lake, Wash., Patricia Foreman of Post Falls, Idaho, and Jim Foutz, who preceded her in death.

She then divorced Tom in 1973 and lived for a short time in Cody with her two youngest children before moving back to the Coeur d’Alene area, where she met and married Jim Smith. They lived in Post Falls until Jim retired. They then moved to Sheridan Mont. Jim passed away in 1993, which brought Gerry back to be close with her family in the Coeur d’Alene area. She lived on the outskirts of Post Falls with her daughter, where she passed away at home with family by her side. She Is also survived by her brother, Don Best, in North Bend, Wash.

Gerry had 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren

Gerry went to rest knowing she will be missed by family and friends.

There will be no services per Gerry’s request.
