Coeur d'Alene wins 'home' game in Lewiston
LEWISTON — Seniors Cody Davenport and Quinton Bunch each had a key 2-out hit, leading the Vikings to a 7-3 nonconference win over Moscow at Church Field in Lewiston on Monday.
Bunch cleared the bases with a 3-RBI double in the fourth inning, putting CHS ahead 5-0.
Davenport went 3-for-4, with his final hit a 2-RBI triple in the sixth inning, boosting the Vikings’ lead to 7-3
Coeur d’Alene (2-0) benefitted from 10 Bears walks, with Colt Rowley and Jake Brown drawing three apiece.
Alex Karns earned the win on the mound, allowing six hits and two earned runs over 4.2 innings. He struck out five Moscow hitters. David Kraak threw 2.1 innings of one-hit ball to earn the save.
“Alex threw great. He pitched really effectively, and if it was later in the season, he could have gone further,” Vikings coach Nick Mahin said. “As it was, David came in and also threw well.
“It was great to get outside and get a game in, and I was pleased with how we played.”
Chad Redinger had two doubles for Moscow (2-2).
CHS returns to the Lewiston/Clarkston area on Friday and Saturday for the North/South Tournament.
The Vikings face West Valley and Rocky Mountain on Friday in Clarkston, then battle Hillcreast and Clarkston on Saturday in Lewiston.
