LAMENT: Good ol' days gone

| March 17, 2019 1:00 AM

Polls have suggested many young people support socialism, which greatly troubles me. The question is why do they ?

I grew up in New Hampshire. If you wanted a car, you, the child, actually had to work for it, a novel concept these days. It was never a new car, it was old, yet you were sure proud of it.

In school they graded you, A, B, C, D and F. If you did not do the homework you, got the grade you deserved with no excuses about your self-esteem.

If you played sports, it was because you were good enough and if your team lost, you never got a trophy for just showing up.

Talk about archaic, they actually had a military draft; people were actually proud to be in the service. Schools actually taught how our country was a country for good.

So what has happened in these last 60 years? Radical colleges, every student is a winner, everyone gets a new car, schools teach about all the bad this country has done and bemoan its past mistakes over and over. The rewriting of history.

Success is a dirty word. Border walls immoral. Working, why should we? The words “fair share” now means, you work and then give all the proceeds to me for just existing. Everyone gets everything for free and your government is here to help you get it.

A whole generation has forgotten their parents and grandparents past! What a shame.
