GIFT: The kindness of strangers
On March 4, my cousin and I were able to brave the never-ending winter and treat ourselves to a lunch at the Cracker Barrel. Although this may seem trivial to some, it was very trying for us. You see, we are both disabled, elderly women.
It was a struggle to get through the icy parking lot with a walker and oxygen bottle in tow, but we succeeded in entering the business and enjoyed a very satisfying meal while enjoying a brief respite from the trials of handicapped living during the long Idaho winter.
After completing our lunch date, the most amazing thing happened. Some unknown person had witnessed our struggle and had stepped up and paid our lunch bill without our knowledge.
In a time when everyone is so negative and critical of everyone else, it is refreshing to know good, kind people still exist. Whoever you are, we thank you and appreciate your very kind gesture!
