EXPANSION: Reality and empathy

| March 13, 2019 1:00 AM

Medicaid, I believe many people who voted in favor of this were not adequately informed on the repercussions to them should the federal government reduce the funding level from 90 percent which is not uncommon.

We the people of Idaho would have to make up the difference in our tax dollars. I believe we need the ability to revisit this matter should the funding level drop by the Feds. It’s fine that the only people who seemed to be able to show up in Boise for the hearing while the rest of us that work for a living were unable to attend. Thank you Mr. Birnbaum for being the lone voice for us.

Mr. Wynn who is in favor of the Medicaid pointed out the people collecting this benefit are already working, I don’t understand his objection to the work requirement. Naturally the folks in favor want to get the voters on their side by impugning the other side by stating they take offense to the thought the voters did not understand what they were voting for.

I believe we were not informed of the potential revenue crisis we could be faced with. I also believe we have empathy for those facing the lack of coverage. For that reason some may have voted for the program not understanding a potential crisis that may come in the future because we were well intentioned.
