SNOW: A heart-warming story
Every so often I am reminded of why so many of us choose to live in a small town in North Idaho. Last week, I drove my granddaughter to soccer practice at the new indoor soccer facility at Prairie Avenue and Huetter Road. Of course we were running a bit late due to all the snow on the roadways and as I turned into the driveway and pulled into the nearest parking spot, I became totally stuck in a snowbank that had formed because of the drifting snow.
As I sat there wondering what my next step was, a young man came out of the office. I asked tentatively if he thought there were a few people around that could help push me out. Immediately he jumped into action, recruiting two others who somehow found sand and shovels and began to dig me out before pushing. After quite a few tries with little progress, we were all glad to see a pick-up truck drive in and ask if we needed help. Within minutes, the driver had attached my car to his truck with a chain and pulled me out!
I do not know the names of these good Samaritans, but they have restored my faith in the practice of neighbors helping neighbors that probably happens more than most of us realize in our community. I hope I can pay their kindness forward someday soon.
