SCHOOLS: No more taxes

School Districts requesting more money yet again. Interestingly in the mail last week we received a flyer from Lakeland School District plugging ANOTHER LEVY replacing another levy that replaced a prior levy. This is in addition to the other levies for schools already being paid via property taxes. This levy won’t change your taxes they say, they actually will decrease!

My first thought was is this where the money goes, spending funds on printing and mailing flyers! They had the same thought. Guess we better cover this, so in bright yellow highlight is a statement saying, “the school didn’t pay for this, the funds were donated!” I say BS!

We are sick and tired of being taxed to death by the schools when their level of education is 48th in the country! There is no accountability, no openness as to where these funds are being spent, obviously not on education! They also hold these elections in March when they know voter turnout is not of all the people! Teachers and parents of students with voting booths in some schools! As property owners and seniors, retired on a fixed income, the $1,800+ we pay a year is too much, actually $600+ more than my monthly Social Security check! ENOUGH is ENOUGH! This has to stop somewhere. Gotta ask, where is the revenue from all the new homeowners? Oh and thank you to Lakeland. They sent a handy dandy absentee voter application! My vote is a big fat NO … NO and NO!
