Jeannie Argene Merriweather (Sherman), 72
Jeannie Argene Merriweather (Sherman), 72, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, in Sandpoint, Idaho. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Jeannie was born on April 3, 1946, as Helen Argene Merriweather, in Fort Worth, Texas, to James and Retha Merriweather. She was the third of four children: Bobbie, James, Helen and Ginny. At the age of 8 years old she was adopted by William and Ruth Lightcap. She then moved with her new parents to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she grew up, graduated and eventually met and married Fredrick Robin Sherman, moving to Sandpoint. The couple had four children together: Rex, Timothy, Patrick and Heather.
Jeannie took pride in being prepared to handle any hardships that life may place in her path, and she passed these skills on to her children. She found happiness in music at a young age, playing the piano and accordion. She enjoyed getting lost in books, collecting bells, working in her vegetable garden and canning food, sewing and dabbling in painting and sketching.
Jeannie loved the great outdoors, camping and spending time at the lake. Her love of animals lead her to have many beloved pets throughout the years.
She was a woman of many interests, but her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She loved having a full house and was Mom/Grams to many both by blood and choice. Her message to everyone that came into her home was, “God loves you and so do I!”
She is survived by her four children: Rex, (Lisa) Sherman of Sandpoint, Timothy (Shelly) Sherman of Livingston, Mont., Patrick (Keri) Sherman of Seattle, Wash., and Heather (Tom) Syth of Summerville, S.C.; seven grandchildren: Richard, Jeannie, Christopher, Rayanna, Michelle, Bethany and Emila; and three great-grandchildren: Royce, Kadynce and Sylas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Retha Merriweather, William and Ruth Lightcap; two older brothers, Bobbie and James and ex-husband (and good friend), Fredrick Sherman.
