EDUCATION: Proposing new model

| March 1, 2019 12:00 AM

Regarding the issue of school funding, which is again challenging school districts and taxpayers, I have a solution to offer. I am a certified teacher experienced in all subjects, all grades and the author of “A New Model In Education,” a field study that I developed in 1994 to identify the problems facing the education system and to come up with solutions. The solution to school funding can be made by hiring teachers as private contractors WHO WORK UNDER A COVENANTAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SCHOOL.

The school and teachers together develop the covenantal terms and therefore future concerns and adjustments can be arbitrated in-house, made without calling a strike. This arrangement also takes care of teacher accountability: Either you’re performing satisfactorily or you don’t get students.

Well then, who pays the teachers? The full program cannot be elaborated on in this venue but exploring the process of covenantal relationship, with anyone who is interested, will make a lot of sense and has a lot of possibilities. I have several workable ideas on who pays and how.

Other aspects and solutions of The New Model in Education include first and foremost TEACHING METHODS BASED ON PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING, that without them, explains why kids aren’t learning, and that once initiated will change everything. Without them, we will keep muddling along in the dark.

Our existing systems of learning are NOT based on principles of learning and there are well-documented reasons why not. I am ready to share those reasons, with solutions, with anyone who may be interested.
