Post Falls jumps out to early lead at Rumble

COEUR d’ALENE — Post Falls qualified 14 wrestlers for the semifinals of the the North Idaho Rumble, leading the 18-team tournament with 125.5 points after the first day on Friday at Coeur d’Alene High.

Roddy Romero (98 pounds), Braxton Mason (106), Ryan Graves (106), Bryce Smith (113), Lane Reardon (120), Isaac Jessen (126), Ethan Miller (132), A.J. De La Rosa (138), Nicholas McLeod (138), Ridge Lovett (145), Mathias De La Rosa (152), Wyatt Shelly (170), Terran Sharbrough (285) and Austin Portner (285) went unbeaten on the tournament’s first day to advance.

Tournament host Coeur d’Alene is second with 75.5 points, followed by Lakeland in third with 68.5.

Dylan Moffat (106), Dom Jessos (113), Hunter Schueller (126), Nolan Randles (138), Gunner Giulio (152), Garrett Ashby (152) and Nick Dohm (182) advanced to the semis for Coeur d’Alene.

Chandler Axtell (120), Sam Edelblute (126), Riley Siegford (132), Colton Boettcher (160), Hayden Berger (195) and Sam Feusier (285) advanced to the semis for Lakeland.

Caden Hess (98) Devin Sorrelle (120), Seth Nutting (160), Zane Monaghan (182), Mahlon Clark (195) and Connor Dremann (220) advanced to the semifinals for Lake City, which is fourth with 60 points.

“We definitely had some bright spots today,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “But as a team, I didn’t think we were as solid as we’d been. I don’t know if we got it put together again. Hopefully, we’ll come back with a little more fire on Saturday.”

Isaiah Evans (126) and Joey Follini (182) advanced to the semis for Timberlake, which is tied for seventh with Moscow with 33 points.
