Time to enter the Art on the Green poster contest

| January 22, 2019 12:00 AM

Artists are invited to try their hand at designing this year’s poster for North Idaho’s biggest art party.

Submissions of Art on the Green 2019 poster designs are now being accepted. One will be selected to represent this year’s event taking place on Aug. 2, 3 and 4.

The winner of the contest will be awarded a prize of $300. The winning design will be adapted for T-shirts, pins, programs and electronic and social media postings.

Past years’ posters can be viewed on the festival’s website: artonthegreen.org, along with the rules for the poster competition.

The festival, now in its 51st year, was first staged on the old tennis court at McEuen Field. After two hot August weekends, the Citizens’ Council for the Arts, sponsor of the event, moved it to the shaded grounds of the North Idaho College campus.

The festival now includes free entertainment on two stages, a juried art show, art booths, volunteer-run food booths, workshops and a center where visitors can try their hands at making things.

It coincides each year with the Downtown Street Fair on Sherman Avenue and Idaho Panhandle Kiwanis’ Taste of Coeur d’Alene in City Park. The trio of events attract roughly 30,000 people each year.
