Kootenai County legislators get assignments

COEUR d’ALENE — Kootenai County’s state legislative delegation is spread out across a multitude of committees in this year’s legislative session.

Sen. Steve Vick is Kootenai County’s highest-ranking state legislator. The Senate assistant majority leader from Dalton Gardens is the third-highest ranking Republican in the state Senate. In addition to his leadership responsibilities, he serves on committees for Local Government and Taxation, and State Affairs.

Sen. Mary Souza serves as vice chair of the Health and Welfare Committee, and is also on committees for Commerce and Human Resources, and State Affairs.

Sen. Don Cheatham has been assigned to committees for local government and taxation, as well as judiciary and rules.

Rep. Ron Mendive chairs the Local Government Committee, and serves on committees for Resources and Conservation, and Education.

Rep. Paul Amador was the only local legislator appointed to the Joint Finance — Appropriations Committee, as well as the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee. He is also vice chair of the Environment, Energy, and Technology Committee, and serves on the Judiciary, Rules, and Administration Committee.

Rep. Vito Barbieri serves on committees for Business, Local Government, and State Affairs.

Among the freshman state legislators, Rep. Jim Addis is on committees for Resources and Conservation, Revenue and Taxation, and Transportation and Defense. Rep. John Green has been assigned to committees for Commerce and Human Resources, Health and Welfare, and Local Government. Rep. Tony Wisniewski is on Education, Local Government, and Commerce and Human Resources.
