Jessie Lorraine Jordahl

March 26, 1918 – Jan. 9, 2019

Jessie Lorraine Jordahl was born in Glendive, Mont., to the Rev. Frank Durant and his wife Nellie. The youngest of eight children, Jessie attended grade school in the booming mining town of Red Lodge, Mont., where her father was the Episcopal minister. When her father retired in 1936, the family moved to Billings, Mont., where she graduated from Billings Senior High in 1936, and from Billings Business College.

She married Orland C. Jordahl on Jan. 7, 1940, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Billings. Jessie worked as a food promoter and was active in her local church, Billings Newcomers and Residers. She enjoyed her many Bridge clubs and friends.

Upon Orland’s retirement, they became “snowbirds,” enjoying traveling, golfing and fishing together and making many friends. After living 60 years in the house Orland built, in 2009 they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to be near family. It was a good move.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Orland (“Joe”) Jordahl, and her sisters, brothers and parents. She leaves behind four children: her two daughters, Joan Larson of Loomis, Calif., and Lynne Pritchett of St. Paul, Minn., and her sons, Terry Jordahl of Spokane, Wash., and Lonne Jordahl of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and their families, including 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Wherever Jessie went she made friends and she will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at The Gardens at Orchard Ridge. Memorials may be made in her name to St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Billings, Mont. or of person’s choice.
