DALTON: Support for leadership

| January 13, 2019 12:00 AM

There is a misguided effort afoot by Save Dalton Gardens to recall the Dalton mayor and entire Dalton City Council. Based on the initial claims of this group, I was concerned that our Dalton lifestyle may be compromised. When I challenged the mayor and the City Council about these issues, my fears were resolved.

The City Council is respecting the legal rights of the Streeters, who want to build on their 5 acres. The Streeters were granted the right to do so in 1975, before the current ordinances were implemented. The council is also preserving the Dalton Gardens minimum lot size of no less than 1-acre lots. In this instance, the mayor and council have come up with a win/win resolution. The rights of the Streeters have been respected and the Dalton lifestyle has been preserved.

My husband and I both grew up here beginning in the 1950s. We purchased land in Dalton Gardens when the parcel became available and have recently built our dream retirement home. As much as anyone, we want to retain this rural lifestyle.

Mayor Roberge and the members of the City Council want that also. They are people of integrity who genuinely care about Dalton Gardens. Remember, the mayor and council members live here too!

I found that the mayor and City Council are very approachable and happy to answer any and all questions from Dalton residents. Please take the time to investigate the issues and vote on March 12 to retain our mayor and City Council.
