Darvin Charles Harris, 78

Darvin Charles Harris, 78, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

A celebration of his life will be held from 1–4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at 604 W. 23rd, Spokane, Wash. Please bring your memories to share with family and friends.

Darvin was born Jan. 11, 1940, in Republic, Wash., to Paul and Lydia (Krein) Harris. He served in the Army and Army National Guard from 1958 to 1965. On April 6, 1963, he married Gloria Elizabeth Cross in Spokane.

Darvin was employed as a boat builder with Demar, Fiber Form and Apollo boats. He also owned and operated G&D Boat Tops with his wife, Gloria, from 1986 to 2003. He enjoyed fishing and working on his ranch and spending time with his horses and dogs.

The most important thing to him was his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Darvin had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to tell jokes and tease his family and friends, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. He left us all with a wealth of happy memories and stories to tell.

Darvin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria; his three sons: Donald Charles and his wife, Nancy, Daniel Paul and his wife, Rebecca, and Darin Edward and his wife, Windy; his two daughters: Debra Lynn and Darla Marie; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Donna Henderson; his brother, Delmar Harris and his wife, Sue; sisters-in-law, Norma Harris and Kathleen Smith; brother-in-law, Thomas Cross; numerous nieces and nephews and one spoiled dog, his Brandy Girl.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lydia, and his brothers, Dale and Douglas.
